Distinguish visually between endnotes and footnotes
Currently, endnotes and footnotes are handled independently. Both footnotes and endnotes are numbered sequentially in order of first reference. If an author uses both footnotes and endnotes, their callout numbers will both look the same. So there can be two identical looking inline callouts to note "1" in the text, both linking correctly to their respective end- or footnote. At the end of the document, there will also be two entries for "1".
Once note numbers display next to their notes at the end of the document again (#107 (closed)), we will need to have some way to distinguish
- inline endnote callouts from inline footnote callouts
- Endnote numbers at the end from footnote numbers at the end
We could use numbers for endnotes, for example, and letters for footnotes. Or, somehow differentiate endnote inline callout numbers from inline footnote callout numbers, then add headers to distinguish the footnotes from the endnotes at the end of the file.
On hold for now.
