Question metadata structure and samples
Bridget and Melissa
Here are our notes on question metadata:
- Metadata does have a hierarchy
- The fields are pre-defined (i.e. select from possible values)
- required vs optional -- we didn't discuss this, but I assume the author must provide all metadata before the question can be submitted, is that correct?
- Each question will also have "explainer" text which provides guidance on why the correct answer is correct.
The complete list of metadata is being worked on. In the meantime it will be helpful to know:
- The titles of each level (e.g. Topic --> sub-topic --> learning objective)
- For each level, how many options are there?
keywords
Keywords are the 4th level of metadata. The list includes 3200 words. Users should be able to search by keywords in order to curate list of questions to export (see design focus for week 4).
Tagging questions from a very long list of keywords (as shown in current design below) may not be the best approach. If all question text is searchable, then tagging from a defined list may not be necessary. Authors could still add their own keywords. We'll know more when we see the data. @yannis FYI.
