NCBI testing release 21 Oct
Hi @lathrops1
All relevant issues are linked at test-20211021
Settings epic testing
This release covers all user stories for the Settings epic (&8), but excluding support for collections and their members. Please read the guidance in &8 (comment 69980):
Feature: Create custom organisation settings templates
Issue #390 (closed) describes the agreed to development
All Organisations have default templates. These apply until a custom template is set up:
- As a system admin, create a custom settings template for all chapter-processed books that will be created in the organisation.
- As a system admin, create a custom settings template for all wholebooks that will be created in the organisation.
- As a system admin, update the custom settings templates. The updated template gets applied to all books created after this point.
Example: A custom template for a wholebook:
Feature: Apply custom organisation settings templates
Issue #390 (closed) describes the agreed to development
- As a Sys Admin, Org Admin and Editor, create a book in my organisation that inherits the template settings
- As a Sys Admin, Org Admin and Editor, change settings at new book creation point (for the setting applicable to my role)
- As a Sys Admin, Org Admin and Editor, change settings at any time after book creation (for the setting applicable to my role)
Feature: Lock sensitive settings
Issue #114 (closed) describes the agreed to development
- If my role (Sys Admin, Org Admin and Editor) allows me to change a setting, I should see a lock next to any setting that is sensitive to avoid accidental changes.
- To change the setting, unlock --> change --> lock. (note: if a user forgets to lock, this is done when the form is saved).
Note for your testing
- Since the "Book publication date format" setting has been removed, the format is now controlled as part of the metadata form logic by selecting the type:
However this functionality wasn't intended when this UI component was originally developed. Unfortunately it needs some refactoring to allow DD
and and MM
to be optional. This means you cannot create a book without completing these fields. This will be fixed in the next release.
-
We have removed publisher name and location from the "New Book" step because this will be applied from the metadata template. However, until we have those templates in place, this means you'll need to add those values in the UI for chapter-processed books before submitting content, otherwise you'll get loading errors.
-
There is an unresolved bug for
toc-max-depth
that you asked us not to fix until you've seen this release -- #748 (closed) -
These settings don't have the same max values? Should they?
&14)
Publish epic testing (Feature: Check collection Agreements when collection member is published
This testing must be done on NCBI's production deployment as confirmed in #690 (comment 70104). It should be limited to confirming that the collection agreement is checked as specified in the Agreements API workflow steps in #481 (closed).
@lathrops1, I don't know you've set up an existing collection domain on this deployment but I'm happy to screenshare when you get to this test.
Bug fixes
Related to this epic:
- Show error related to missing cover and PDF build setting in the UI -- #758 (closed). Please note that this was a bug fix on NCBI side. This has important implications for testing books in the Word WF. These setting must be turned off, otherwise you'll get loading errors:
Relating to the chapter-processed TOC epic (&2) :
- Contents are not getting auto-sorted by label and in the correct structural front / body sections -- #738 (closed)
- Create and send toc.xml file for books in the PDF and XML workflow that have their chapters published automatically-- #743 (closed)
- Set a default value for chapter ordering setting -- #726 (closed)
Relating to viewing organisations:
- The organization name disappeared in the nav bar -- #670 (closed)
Design Improvement
- When we fixed #690 (closed) it made sense to ahead with some improvements to the nave bar generally:
- improve display of the Organization name
- moved the buttons "Team", "Settings", "Metadata" to be in line with the title
- improve the design of username button
- move "bulk upload" button and rename to "Upload chapters" as discussed in progress review call (#739 (closed))
