HHMI review: Release for accessibility testing by Deque
Hi @aleezaoshry @conneelyb @vargasc @csikari
cc @yannis @grgml @vukilelanga @christos @vignesh03
The site has been updated with the theme and header and footer design provided by Forum 1. This release is ready for Deque to start their accessibility check. Our team will continue to complete some development while this testing is in progress, as shown on the Baseline release tracking document.
Deque testers sign up and role assignment
Testers at Deque should sign up at https://hhmi.cloud68.co/signup. Each user should have a unique name and email. Once these users have signed up, anyone in the HHMI team with the Admin role can give these users Admin and Editor roles to test the full system. If you prefer, you can let us know here and we'll give the users Admin and Editor roles.
User flows
The information needed to test is described in the user stories and flows documentation. In there you’ll see that there are essentially 5 main pages:
- Dashboard — a list view of all questions for signed up users who create/edit/produce/publish questions.
- Discover/Browse Questions — a list view of published questions for signed up and non-signed users to find, take, and export questions.
- The question page — showing the Question Editor and metadata form. This page is accessed from the Dashboard and the Browse Questions page. As explained in the docs the possible actions on this page depend on the user’s role and the status of the question.
- User manager to see all users in the system.
- Team manager to assign users roles in the system.
Recommendations for footer design
We have implemented the footer design as provided but as you'll see it takes up a lot of screen reality.
Our recommendation is:
- remove the footer completely
- the links at the bottom can go to the Username dropdown at the top right or on an about page
- the logo is already in the header so there is no need to repeat it
- the social links could go on the about page.
Theme improvements
The font is 16 pt currently. Is 14 pt acceptable? We've used Arial since it's an open font. HHMI should confirm the Helvetica licence applies to the assessment builder if you'd like it to be changed.
What's not included
We're waiting on the links to the completed static pages from Forum 1.
Providing feedback
Please provide your consolidated feedback in response to this issue. Our team will review the feedback and if necessary we may need a call to go through it. Following this we'll need to agree on which feedback should be implemented for the Baseline release.
Keep in mind that there are some known bugs we're working on. You can see these in issues with label bug. If you come across any, please use the bug template when creating an issue.
