Edits in metadata are lost when chapter is processed
When I edit the metadata for a book while chapters are still being processed, the changes made to metadata fields (before saving them) are reset the moment that a chapter is processed.
Expected behavior
Edited metadata fields should be retained as long as the user is allowed to edit metadata.
Current behavior
Edits are lost the moment a chapter are processed. Note: the changes in metadata that have been saved before are still there.
Steps to reproduce
- Upload a chapter or import files to a book that will take some time to process. E.g.1-Big-Grammar-Book-MS-Word-Version.docx
- Open Metadata and edit fields without saving them
- Wait for a chapter to be processed and check that the edits you have been doing are not showing in Metadata.
In the video below, I edited the subtitle and the author of the book, but my edits were gone when a chapter was processed. Screencast_from_27.10.23_05_11_49.MD_CEST
Environment
[Provide browser name and version and if you're working from a PC or Mac]
Possible solution
If chapters are being processed, when a user clicks 'Metadata' instead of opening the metadata modal open another modal with a notice 'Metadata cannot be edited while chapters are being processed'.
Implement a mechanism to allow chapters in processing to be deleted, in case they get stuck.
