Create modal for manipulating citations
The purpose of this task is to outline the userflow and features to support the automatic parsing of citations in the Wax Production editor. After this feature is implemented the only annotation that should appear in the Wax>Citation tool set will be 'Citation parser' (TBC).
Reference; Figma boards
Userflow;
- User navigates to the Production editor.
- User can highlight a single reference (
mixed-citation
) or a reference list (ref-list
) in Wax, but clicking on an annotated reference parses the citation via Crossref and AnyStyle. - User is able to see the list of citations (in Wax) and can identify individual citations that have been successfully parsed.
- User clicks on a single reference, which launches the citation modal.
- User sees a list of citation options returned from Crossref and AnyStyle.
- User is able to choose a citation from the list and click on an 'Apply' action.
- User is able to edit a citation metadata form and click on an 'Apply' action.
- On apply action the modal closes and the updated text is visible in Wax.
Wax UI considerations;
- Throbber to be displayed when a list of highlighted citations is being parsed (point 2 above).
- Icon used to identify citations that have been successfully parsed and have options to selection option (point 3 above).
- Icon that indicates a citation has been selected (see point 8 above).
Modal UI considerations;
- All controls for selected and editing citations will be displayed in a modal pop-up.
- A user has the option to complete 2 steps; 1) select a citation and apply or 2) select a citation, edit and apply. If the user makes a selection and clicks on 'Edit', the form should be displayed. If a user clicks on 'Apply' the selection/edits made in the form are saved and the modal closes.
- A user can click 'Back'from the 'Edit' view to make another selection.
- The user will be able to see the formatted citation (citations style applied e.g. APA) wherever the caution is displayed in the modal. This transformation happens at the point where the citations are parsed.
- User is able to complete the following form fields;
- Author first name
- Author last name
- ability to an 'Add author'
- Article title
- Journal title
- DOI
- ability to link a DOI (include Basic wax editor in this field)
- Volume
- Issue
- Year
- First page
- Last page
- Citation label
