GhostScript dependency missing from setup instructions (and another related problem on Linux)
I tried to install the repo locally to get a current distribution (paged.polyfill.js
) of the current development version.
I followed these instructions:
https://gitlab.pagedmedia.org/tools/pagedjs/wikis/Running-Locally
The installation failed because I hadn't installed GhostScript.
The setup instructions in the ReadMe don't mention GhostScript either (however, GhostScript and its setup, is mentioned in the Testing/Tests
section).
So ideally, the required GhostScript setup would be mentioned in these places.
I'm on Linux, and I had an additional problem. For some reason, ghostscript4js
couldn't find the installed libgs.so
, and the provided installation option (--GS4JS_HOME/--GS4JS_LIB) where ignored.
In the end, I had to provide the location of libgs.so
via an environment variable:
env GS4JS_HOME="/usr/lib" npm install
It wasn't a big deal for me, but I think for some people this would be pretty frustrating/insurmountable, which is why I report the issue.
PS: Btw., is the developing version usable for "production"? I'd like to create footnotes, and I saw that these where merged two weeks ago! :)
